Flyability is a Swiss company that builds safe drones for the inspection and the exploration of indoor, complex, inaccessible, and confined spaces. By allowing drones to be used safely inside buildings, and in contact with people it enables industrial companies and inspection professionals to reduce downtime, inspection costs, increase workers safety and prevent risks of larger catastrophes.

With hundreds of customers in over 50 countries in Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Maritime, Infrastructures & Utilities, and Public Safety, Flyability has pioneered and continues to lead the innovation in the commercial indoor drone space.

Elios

In 2016., they presented their first product Elios – the collision-tolerant drone for industrial inspection. It contains a carbon fiber protective frame that allows access to the tightest spaces without the risk of a crash. Discarding the need to sense and avoid obstacles, the Elios can bounce off walls and roll on them to find its way. Also, it can fly close or even in direct contact with humans without any risks of injuries.

Elios is equipped with a full HD camera, a thermal camera, and an onboard LED lighting system with remotely adjustable intensity. Also, it is equipped with a cutting-edge wireless communication system that provides live video feedback allowing the pilot to bring the drone to the most inaccessible places up to several hundreds of meters beyond visual line of sight.

Elios 2

The Elios 2 was released in 2019 and is designed to fly in indoor spaces such as tunnels, hangars or pipes. It is the most intuitive, reliable, and precise indoor inspection drone built to keep workers out of harm’s way, gain efficiency and drive cost down. Furthermore, it is remarkably intuitive to fly and make razor-sharp close-up images in GPS denied environments in dark and troubled air flows beyond line of sight.

Also, Elios 2 brings to market many other features including a thermal camera, shockproof payload, full HD live video feedback, distance lock, 2D measurements, 3D modelling, a modular design for easy maintenance and a completely redesigned software suite that streamlines data management for planning to reporting.

Flyability has acquired over 400 customers all around the world

The company achieved multiple challenges over the last few years. Currently, their drones are used in over 50% of US nuclear power plants. They have inspected the site of Chernobyl, explored the Greenland ice cap to help understand the impacts of climate change. Not to mention that Elios drones are increasingly becoming the standard to remotely inspect confined spaces such as boilers, chimneys, tunnels or tanks.

After less than 5 years in business, Flyability was selected as the best startup in Switzerland for 2019. From two founders in 2014. to 85 full-time employees today, they become the market leader of indoor drones and one of the leading international industrial robotics companies.
